When someone opens a Being Human USA food box, here is what they find inside.

The Food

Every box starts with the staples. Rice, pasta, canned beans, canned vegetables, and cooking oil. These are the building blocks of meals that can stretch across a week. When we can, we add cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, and shelf-stable milk. During certain seasons, we also include fresh produce and refrigerated items donated by local partners.

The idea is simple. We want every box to feel like a real grocery run, not just a random collection of items. A family should be able to open the box and plan actual meals from what is inside.

The Hygiene Essentials

Food is not the only thing families run out of. That is why every box also includes personal hygiene products. Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant. These are the things people sometimes skip buying when money gets tight, even though they need them just as much as food.

Dignity is not a luxury. It is a basic need. And we treat it that way.

The Household Basics

Paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and cleaning supplies round out the box. These are the everyday items that families go through quickly and that add up fast at the store.

What Makes It Work

None of this happens without the community. Every item in every box was donated by someone who cared enough to give. Every box was packed by a volunteer who showed up when it mattered. And every family who receives one knows that their neighbors are looking out for them.
