Every distribution day starts the same way. A small group of volunteers arrives early, often before the sun has fully come up, and begins setting up tables, sorting donations, and packing boxes. By the time the first families arrive, everything is ready.
Here is what happens behind the scenes.
Before the Doors Open
Volunteers sort through the donations that have come in during the week. Canned goods, rice, pasta, cooking oil, hygiene items, cleaning supplies. Everything gets organized by category and checked for quality. Nothing expired. Nothing damaged. Then the packing begins.
Each box is assembled by hand. We make sure every family receives a balanced mix of food and essentials. The goal is not just to fill a box. The goal is to fill it with things a family can actually use to get through the week.
When Families Arrive
There is no paperwork. No long forms to fill out. People come, they are greeted warmly, and they receive what they need. Some come alone. Some come with children. Some are elderly. Some are young parents doing their best. All of them are our neighbors.
After the Last Box Is Handed Out
The volunteers clean up, break down the tables, and take stock of what is left. Then the planning starts again for the next one.
It is simple work. But it matters. And it only happens because people choose to show up.
